Penarth Bears Hold Top Spot

Penarth traveled to face local team UWIC on Saturday in a top two clash. UWIC started off strong and caught Penarth napping to take the lead within the first 15 seconds. Penarth responded well to this with 2 quick goals from young player Rhys Hill and another from Chris Ball the score to 3 – 1 to Penarth.

The second quarter saw a lot of action with Penarth adding another goal from Ben Wilkins and UWIC responding with 2 more goals taking the half time score to 4 – 3.

In the third quarter Penarth opened the floodgates putting 4 goals pass UWIC goalie. Our own side saw the captain Ceri Hill and our goalkeeper James Richardson scoring when he carried the ball the whole length of the pitch.

At the end of the third quarter the score stood at 8 – 3 to Penarth who found themselves struck with injuries causing key attack man Dan Jones to step out of the game and players Chris Ball and Chris James having to play through injury, this resulted in the final quarter with a lot of settled play and the game slowing down. UWIC added one to their tally and Penarth responded with a goal from Chris Ball after a great fast break from Ben Wilkins.

The Game ended 9 – 4 to Penarth leaving them firmly at the top of the table.
